^{It was late} - ^{well past when he should have been} ｄｒｅａｍｉｎｇ - ^{but Davey couldn’t sleep} . ^{He’d been up for} HOURS ^{already, tossing and turning with only the crack of moonlight} ｗａｎｄｅｒｉｎｇ ^{into their tent to illuminate the area} . ^{No matter how much he tried to put it out of his mind, he couldn’t help but think about a confrontation he’d gotten into with another camper that afternoon} . ^{Some mean little} BRAT ^{had gotten in his face during a hike earlier that day and made some snide comment about} ｎｏｂｏｄｙ ^{liking him} . ^{At the time, Davey had just laughed it off and gotten back at the guy by pushing him into the} STREAM^{, but now he had time to think about what’d been said to him and it wasn’t doing him any} favors .

^{He shifted onto his side to get a look at the other camper he was sharing a tent with. The blonde boy looked pretty} ｐｅａｃｅｆｕｌ ^{at that moment, snug as a bug under his blankets} . ^{Davey couldn’t help thinking about how much everyone} LIKED Jasper . ^{He was cool and fun and never had to worry about fitting in} . 

^{It was then that Davey got an} IDEA . ^{He glanced over the side of his bed and found he was just close enough to where the other had kicked off his shoes. Reaching out as far as he could, Davey grabbed a hold of the sneaker and tossed it straight at the other, causing the tent to} ｍｏｍｅｎｔａｒｉｌｙ ^{light up as a bright flash emanated from the shoes} . ^{His voice was kept} LOW ^{when he spoke as to not wake up the other campers or counselors} . ❝ _Psst! JASPER ! ^{Wake up}! _{I gotta ask you something}! ❞
